On May 20, at its annual luncheon at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan, Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) recognized the most innovative beauty products of the year at the 17th Annual CEW Beauty Awards, highlighted with celebrity presenters and hosted by Mario Cantone, comedian and star of Sex and the City 2.

The products ranged across 26 categories including cosmetics, hair care, skin care, sun care and more. There were close to 600 entries, with 139 finalists chosen, prior to the final selection. A full list of the winning products can be found below.

The CEW Beauty Awards is the only awards program in which the winners are determined exclusively by more than 4,000 beauty insiders and professionals working in the beauty industry. The CEW Beauty Awards signify the industry’s highest recognition for manufacturers and brands, as well as a trusted guide to the most innovative new products for consumers.

“When it comes to buying beauty products, women are looking for proven performance and value. The CEW Beauty Awards make it easy to get insight on the best products in order to be able to make an informed decision when choosing and purchasing a product,” says Carlotta Jacobson, CEW president.

In addition to recognizing product innovation, CEW announced the winner of the Indie Beauty Award for the brightest new start-up in the world of beauty. This year’s winner is Blow, the New York blow dry bar.

This year also marks the first CEW Eco Beauty Award. Sponsored by Givaudan, the new award is in response to the growing consumer demand for products that are good for you and good for the planet. The award recognizes products or product lines that have specifically moved toward the goal of sustainability. This year’s winner is Yves Rocher North America Inc Culture Bio.

The 26 product categories included: Bath & Body Mass, Bath & Body Prestige, Acne Treatment, Anti-Aging Mass, Anti-Aging Prestige, Cleaner & Scrub, Eye Treatment Mass, Eye Treatment Prestige, Moisturizer Mass, Moisturizer Prestige, Hair Care Product, Hair Coloring Product, Hair Styling Product, Eye Product Mass, Eye Product Prestige, Face Product Mass, Face Product Prestige, Lip Product Mass, Lip Product Prestige, Men’s Grooming, Men’s Scent, Women’s Scent Mass, Women’s Scent Prestige, Sun, Indie Beauty Award and Eco Beauty Award

Both mass products (available at the drug, grocery, chain and discount stores) and prestige products (available at department and specialty stores) were honored.

CEW continues to help catalyze sales of the winning products by highlighting them through national retail partnerships with Beauty Bar, CVS/pharmacy, HauteLook and QVC. Throughout the year, the 2011 Beauty Award Winners will display the Winners’ seal and be showcased with custom promotions in store, online and on TV. The winning products will also be promoted on national television with the Today Show on May 24, 2011 and QVC slated for July 13, 2011. Additionally, for the first time, CEW has partnered with the social networking site, foursquare to bring the award-winning products right to consumers while they are in-store. Using this tool, consumers will have the option to “check in” from their mobile device to share their location with friends and also receive tips and recommendations about those products. The winning products will also remain posted on www.cew.org throughout 2011.

Categories are defined by NPD. Votes are tabulated by Ernst & Young.
